Clearing the Cache in Firefox

For those of you who have been having problems with Firefox on Old Navy Weekly nights, here is the trick to clearing your cache (a sort of "short term" memory).

The easiest way is to use the Clearing Cache add-on in Firefox. Select Tools - Add-ons - then click get Add-ons in the upper left hand corner. A small Search box will open just underneath that button and search for Clear cache. Or you can use this link!

It will install, you will have to restart your browser, then there should be a button that looks like a little broom under your address bar! It will look like this:

You can also do it by hand by following these steps:

Firefox 2 (older editions)
  • After opening Mozilla Firefox (if you don't have it open already).
  • On the menu bar at the top of your screen, select TOOLS, click on OPTIONS from the pull down menu
  • click on the PRIVACY icon and then click on the CACHE tab
  • Click the CLEAR CACHE NOW button to delete any files that are in the cache.
  • Then click the OK button
Firefox 3:
  • On the menu bar at the top of your screen, select TOOLS, click on OPTIONS from the pull down menu
  • Click Advanced and then Network
  • Click Clear Now then OK and you are done!

I hope this helps! See you at ThriftyNWMom.com next week!

Coupon trip Number 2: Cheap Razor refills!

So, not to be dismayed by my previous coupon event, I decided that I was going to head back to the store and see if things would go better. This time, it worked to perfection! My mission was to score some Schick Quattro titanium razor cartridges for as little as possible. I've been looking for this for a while (because let's face it, razor cartridges are RIDICULOUSLY expensive!) and I was really glad when I saw the Sunday ads and Rite Aid had them on sale "buy one, get one free" (BOGO) .

I immediately tried to think if there were any recent coupons in recent weeks, but couldn't think of any. So I searched, and I found that momsneedtoknow.com (Hey, Dad's need to know too!) said there were coupons in the 7/26 SmartSource circular for $4 off one razor or refill. Well, anytime there is a BOGO event, you can use two coupons, because you are getting two products. Fortunately for us, ThriftyNWMom, keeps all her fliers from previous weeks just for such an occasion! I looked through them and found 5 of the coupons! (there are two $4 coupons in each circular, one for the mens, and one for the women's Intuition. )

By the way, as a side note, you can find the date of the circular on the "spine" of the cover in teeny, tiny print. Smart Source has the date in the center of the spine, and red Plum has the date on the far right.

So, I went to Rite Aid, and since I had a razor already, I got (4) packages of Titanium refills (normally $11.29 each) and two razors and two refills on the Intuition for my wife.

(An additional bonus was that 3 of the 4 Titanium packages had two bonus cartridges as well, so I got 22 refills, while my wife got two razors and 12 refills)

My total cost was $15.94 after coupons!
That's less than $2 per box! Sweet!

Normally, this would have cost $87.72 plus tax (9.5%) for a total of $96.05. So, I saved $80.11 by timing the coupons with the right sale. Yes, a much better experience than last time! :)

What a great way to use some of your Amazon gift cards you earn from your Swagbuck searching!! I can't tell you how many Swagbucks I have been earning while searching the web!! I use Swagbucks as my main search method, even when going to websites that I frequent regularly and I'm earning more and more swagbucks!

The best way to use Swagbucks is to install a toolbar at the top of your browser, near your favorites (just like a Google toolbar) and then you will use it regularly)--you can still have google as an option to search as well as other search engines--but you can use Swagbucks as your default search engine, so you'll be earning rewards as you are searching the web! You can install a toolbar by going to the main Swagbucks home page HERE and click on toolbars!

17" Toshiba Laptop for $349 at Walmart (Starting Sunday)

Starting Sunday, Walmart is expected to have a 17" Toshiba Satellite L355 for $348. This is a good price for a 17" screen, with a couple "yeah, but"s. It comes with an Intel Celeron processor, so it's not as peppy as many other laptops out there right now. It also comes with Windows Vista home basic, so you cannot upgrade to Windows 7 for free.

If you are just looking for a good laptop with a nice large screen, because you'll be doing your homework on it, or reviewing spreadsheets for hours a day, this is a good deal for you. It does have 3 GB of RAM and a 250 GB hard drive, so that is pretty average for the under $500 price range. If you need something with more computing power for larger applications, you'll probably want to pass.

As with a lot of really good Walmart deals, I would expect these to go fast. Our Walmart is open 24 hrs, so if you want to make sure you can score this deal, I would be in there at midnight.

Thanks, cnet!

1.5 TB SATA Hard Drive for $99

With the ever increasing size of digital pictures, the availability of movies and music, and digital recordings (home movies) that you want to store, you find that your hard drive you never thought would get full, is, well, getting full. It's time for a bigger hard drive.

Enter the 1.5 TB SATA Barracuda 7200.11 Internal Hard Drive at Dell home. For the first time, I have found a 1.5 TB ( one Terabyte=1000 Gigabytes) drive for under $100. Dell has an instant $40 discount off their normal $139.99 price, making it $99.99 and free shipping!

After our hard drive crash, I was looking for a large drive to make a backup copy of my C: Drive. I ended up getting a 750GB drive, which so far has been enough, but I am always watchful of a good deal on something bigger.

Everyone knew that prices would keep coming down, and now, the 1.5TB drive is under $100. This is an enormous internal drive for your computer, but you could easily put it in a housing, and make it an external drive. But you have to hurry. The instant discount is only good for today and tomorrow!
